Details
- OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE is a liquid water treatment additive that inhibits the growth of algae, bacterial species, and yeast and mold in cooling towers, heat exchangers, water storage tanks and other industrial water systems. As a liquid oxidizing compound, the material is low to moderate in foaming and is utilized commonly at 0.5 ppm as (Free Chlorine residual) for at least 1 hour of retention time in circulating water systems.
- Effective in systems ranging in pH from 6 to 12, OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE is consumed based upon organic loading within the cooling tower system and the system pH. The lower the system cooling water pH, the more active the sodium hypochlorite will be in active halogen residual.
- OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE can be used for microbiological control in a wide range of circulating water systems where the treated water does not contact edible products.

| Dosage Range and Feed Methods | OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE is used to control algae and bacteria in circulating commercial and industrial water cooling towers. The dosage is based upon organic loading (biomass) and system pH level. As a general guideline: INITIAL DOSAGE OR SLUG DOSAGE FOR HEAVY BIO-FOULING MAINTENANCE DOSAGE FOR SYSTEMS IN PROPER CONTROL ALWAYS check the cooling water FREE CHLORINE RESDIUAL for proper dosage after 1 hour as follows: FREE CHLORINE: 0.5 ppm to 1.0 ppm as free chlorine – after 1 hour of exposure. TOTAL CHLORINE: 1.0 ppm to 2.0 ppm as total chlorine – after 1 hour of exposure. NOTE: Local regulations may require a limit of less than 0.5 ppm as FREE CHLORINE in cooling water blowdown (or discharge). Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations as applicable. As a general standard practice: Cooling water monitoring equipment should “lock out” system blowdown while the OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE dosage is added to the system (usually for a 1 hour period). OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE is consumed by organic matter and also ‘gasses off’ at elevated pH levels. NEVER ADD OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE TO ACIDIC SOLUTIONS. Cooling water should always be above 6.0 BEFORE OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE is added. Solution Control: Colorimetric tests for chlorine residual are available to determine both free chlorine and total chlorine levels. OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE is corrosive to all metal surfaces at overdose levels. Always check system dosage demands BEFORE adding to the cooling water. |
| Safety and Handling | OMEGA SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE should be handled with rubber, ‘oxidizer resistant’ gloves, and goggles. Keep away from acids, reducing agents, organics. Always store in a cool dry location. Avoid direct sunlight. Always keep vented drum device closed. Signs / Symptoms of Overexposure: Burning sensations to the eyes, nasal passageways, and digestive system. Irritation to the respiratory system. Eye Contact: Severe eye hazard. Contact can cause severe irritation and possible burns. Can cause permanent eye damage. Skin Contact: Severe irritant. Destructive to tissues contacted and produces burns. Inhalation: Inhalation of liquids or airborne concentrations of mists or vapors may be irritating to the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. Ingestions: Industrial chemicals should never be taken internally. Can cause gastrointestinal distress. Ingestion may also cause severe burns and complete tissue perforation of the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, esophagus, and stomach, if swallowed. |
